I had a very nice German girlfriend, actually met her even before I moved to Munich, where she also lived. When we got closer I found out that she could be very possessive, something I don't like, since I believe in a reasonable amount of independence even when married... So our ways parted, not as friends, though, we - my wife and me - both are good friends with her and her later husband. But a German wife, not for me. That said, my wife is not the traditional - as it goes - submissive Japanese wife either, she's quite a bitch, a very strong woman and person in her own ways. So was my mother - and so were my previous girlfriends. I like that. /Taro
