Israel might be wise to divest themselves of their nuclear weapons, as S. Africa did. S. Africa holds several examples of how to proceed that Israel might follow. If only the Pals had a Mandella and Isreal a de Klerck. Although I realize that they have become all the fashion in the last few years in certain circles, comparisons between South Africa and Israel are ridiculous. That said, I agree it would be nice if there was a leader like the older Mandella among the Palestinians. My views were expressed pretty well in this essay by Sam Harris: Message 29694683

"If Israel ever actually uses or even threatens to use a nuke", it wiil mean their army has been pretty much wiped out, and people are actually being pushed into the sea. "Israel might be wise to divest themselves of their nuclear weapons" It would be nice if they siged the Non=proliferation treaty, too. Four UN member states have never joined the NPT: India, Israel, Pakistan and South Sudan. en.wikipedia.org
