Sam, as I good mental exercise ask yourself these two questions: 1) How many Pal women and children do you think the current Israeli gov & military (and civilian population at large) would shrug off as collateral damage if they could bag a high profile Hamas target? Note that recent examples give a lower bound to this estimate. 2) How much Pal land would the current Israeli gov & military (and civilian population at large) happily steal in the WB if Hamas by some miracle, bagged a top Israeli target while bagging the same collateral damage as a truthful answer to 1) would give? Again, note that we have a recent example of the math needed: 1000Acres for 3 deaths. The answers to those two questions tells you what is going on there.

You have a side you support. I think you and Israel are both wrong. Many Jews, many Israelis, agree with me. You never mention the continual land theft by Israel. Hamas is wrong, it's charter is wrong. It's charter kills no one. Israel kills and injures thousands in reality, not some imagining. Then, it steals more land from the Palestinian group that's NOT firing rockets at it. I think at some point America will quit covering for Israel, as it did to S. Africa, and it will be as isolated globally as S Africa once was. Which will FORCE it to change course.
