Subject: Walking (or running)

This might be significant although I pad on humor - serious yet simple stuff ahead.

I do a lot of walking.

I also like to run when the weather is cool.

However, this might come as a very big surprise to everyone here -

I admit it -

I am old.

Really - don't let my youthful posts fool you.

So sometimes little things matter a great deal since my body is a little bit less resilient than when I was a teenager, although there are things I can do today that I couldn't do as a teen. And vice-versa. I will not elaborate the vice-versa, as kids might be reading this (especially that trick with the chair...).

Anyway I'll stop dallying and get to the point (if I can remember it - dang)

Oh yeah.

So anyway I've had problems with ankle pains and aches on the top of my foot.

The symptoms would occur after walking or running and relieve themselves after I take off my sneakers.

Oh yeah - take off the shoes - what a relief - we all know that.

And yes there are "barefoot advocates" and shoes that are supposed to be like barefoot - I'll leave that new age hooty tooty stuff alone for now, sorry if you're one of those "caveman diet" advocates. If I accidently step in poop or on glass or nails I'd rather do it with protection.

Now what was I talking about?

Oh, so I figured this shouldn't be the case why should shoes that fit bother so much?

I tried adjusting my sneakers every which way (yes I tried different ones also, wide, narrower) - tie laces tight, loose, medium, Dr Scholls supports and all that crap.

They did have some effect, but I still had issues, especially top of foot.

Until I found this:

Web site is everything you always wanted to know about lacing your laces but you were afraid to ask.
The referenced page seems to be the best method for the problem I was having.
No more top of foot pain, and ankles are as happy as could be.

Just a small change - just how the laces are laced made a big difference.

Hmmm, maybe I should try that thing with the chair...
Now off my lawn!!!!

Your conscious mind is only partially involved in what you eat. Imagine you sit down in an eclectic resteraunt and you're handed a menu. You say to yourself "what do I fell like". Then you pick what you "feel like".

What really happened; your conscious pictured "what do I feel like". Your subconscious did a quick inventory of what you might be low on... carbs you order pasta protein you order meat. Might even get down to minerals. I sometimes crave sushi or oysters, not sure why.

My point is, our conscious mind can fight this. But are we doing ourselves any good, denying what the organism itself says it needs??? If you want to apply "conscious discipline", apply it to the quantity you eat, not what your body tells you to eat. Your body knows more than the "experts".
