Okay, Thom, electricity. We had a boiler in a house in Belgium. The sophisticated control systems meant we didn't have to get up in the night to stoke it. Turbines are very quiet and sheep can gamble at will, undisturbed. These can be developed.

USSR had a good system which stopped extreme libertarians running free and they regulated heaps of monopolies. But people ran free in the end anyway.

Now Thom, you are persisting in thinking of the utility as being a monolithic entity, whereas it is really just made up of many individuals. Shareholders being the primary beneficiaries of the monopoly profits.

Suppose the monopoly charges what the market will bear? The shareholders are still interested in efficiency. So it just a matter of who gets the money. Why should the buyer get to keep the money instead of the shareholders? By government fiat!

Globalstar will be a monopoly. The only LEO cdma cellphone service. Should the prices be set by a government agency? Sounds as though it is time to pull my money out of it. Better not fund any more IPOs in USA! I'll send my hard earned sheep shearing profits elsewhere. At least I'm in time to get my money back from the share offer by GSTRF earlier this year.

Okay, sell Qualcomm. Sell Globalstar. Quick before Janet finishes off Microsoft and turns her attention on them at qdog's and Thom's behest. Abandon USA!
