So, basically they posted their story because BAY did not meet the whisper number on the revenue side - even though they met all expectations on earnings. Ridiculous. I had sent FOOL an e-mail on Friday also - let's see if I get response.

It's interesting that in this market mode of techs - that even on upgrades for BAY (i've lost count on number of upgrades for BAY) - the stock seems to behave negatively.

I'm confident that patience will prove to be the virtue.

You know, those Fools really are amateurs at journalism if not investing. In a very imprecise way, they are correct. At some point Bay made a caution to analysts not to project the revenue numbers because around Sept. or so was some softening. It was NOT an earnings warning, and, indeed, BAY has been clear that this quarter will meet its target of some sequential revenue growth (in low single digits). The earnings number appears not to be in jeopardy. Now, who knows if this quarter was actually a little weaker than they hoped for and maybe some of the strong revenue from previous quarter was held over just in case. The point is that the Fools are playing fast and loose with the issue and being misleading. So screw 'em. You know, what would have been wrong with them reporting that CSCO and BAY are two networkers who have NOT given earnings warnings? Well, in this lousy market, nothing would help anyway. We are just going to have to persevere through this.
