Not for me. My 4S will go to the iWife and I get a shiny, new 6! I've been waiting for a while as I bet others have.

I'm curious about this upgrade cycle. Is the bloom off the rose for many consumers on having the latest greatest smartphone? It is for me...>>

The survey data I have seen indicates a big upgrade cycle. In addition, it will be interesting to see the level to which the larger screens attract switchers. I think Apple will see an increase in the already significant number of users of other mobile OS's that switch to iOS.

I have not been one to have the latest and greatest - finally replaced the original iPad with an iPad Air last January. Will buy an iPhone 6 to replace my 3 GS. The iWife plans to keep her 4S for a while. If tech companies depended on people like me, well :) .....

The bloom has been off the rose for me for awhile. I think I'm atypical, though. Before the iPhone, having tried cell phones once, I rejected its obtuse user interface and deceptive binding contract and sent it back without even activating. All the time I've had an iPhone, I've used it much more for the apps and music playing than for mobile communications. When my current 2 year contract obligation ends in about 7 months, I'm shutting it down. In 3 years after that, I'll have saved enough to buy me a brand new, top of the line iMac.

Last night, I subscribed to Netflix for the first time and watched that Ashton Kutcher movie about Jobs. My impression was that it was good entertainment, but they left a lot of important things out. As I recall, Jobs actually went to the ad agency, Chiat Day. They were kind enough to refer him to Mike Markkula. Also, there was no mention of the pirate flag that flew over the building that housed the Macintosh development team. If I remember correctly, Sculley did go on vacation to Hawaii and returned to find that Jobs had mounted a coup, that subsequently failed. They didn't cover that he divested himself of most of his AAPL rather quickly, raising investment capital for NEXT and devastating AAPL share prices. Or, that he struggled to keep NEXT afloat with its expensive Jobsian computer design that didn't do well at all. They didn't even mention Pixar, and the tons of money it made for him.

For all of that, I was disappointed in the movie, but I rated it 4 stars on Netflix for the entertainment value. It was pretty good, but they should have named it, "Jobs vs Sculley" for the narrow focus of the story. It wasn't a complete, and therefore accurate, portrayal of Jobs at all.

Will the iWatch require another phone data contract?

We can only guess, but I think it would be premature to go that route. I don't think the need can justify the cost or battery life hit associated with including cellular radio. Adding cellular doesn't solve the big problems with the current smart watches on the market. Apple would be wise to focus on making the iWatch useful, not redundant.

>> For the first time since the second iPhone, I think I'll sit out this upgrade. I'm perfectly happy with my iP5 and don't really want a bigger phone. If there is an elegant payments solution, that's tempting, but I think it will take a while to roll out to retailers.

For the life of me I don't get the big cell phone thing. But I think I'll have to hold one in my hand before I really know if I'll buy it. And I haven't worn a watch in years.

But the app development opportunity for the watch is appealing to me. I can envision some really great kids' apps for it, if the form factor is workable for kids.
