The upgrade on BAY actually came out at 8:04 this morning. Analyst Peter Andrew upgraded Bay to a Buy/Aggressive from a Hold. He cited a recent meeting (Friday) with Bay management and current price as his reasons for the upgrade. He said that management is comfortable with current estimates in the 26 to 27 cent range and is continuing efforts to cut costs and improve margins.

AGE has a price target of $47 for the stock and estimates earnings at 1.13 and 1.55 for F98 and F99 respectively. The analyst stated that if Bay makes its own internal targets for profitability that there could be considerable room for upgrades in F99 earnings. The analyst stated that Bay is not out of the woods yet, but that the company was tracking well.

Recent selling presure exerted on networking stocks has been on concerns about the Asia Pacific region, inventory channel levels and product transitions. The company maintains that things are on track for the current quarter and going forward.
