I don't think its that expensive for the target market. This is an upscale status item. Everyone in Silicon Valley will be wearing one. Down here everyone in the Golden Triangle will be wearing one. Its heads and tails above the competition.

But not expensive according to this reviewer: hodinkee.com " I do think the Apple Watch will be a big problem for low-priced quartz watches, and even some entry-level mechanical watches.
