It would obviously be better if Apple could access their entire installed base, but the replacement rate means that the ramp will be fast. Something north of 70 million possible users by the end of the year.

70 million potential users, maybe. There will be a significant percent that just can't figure it out. And or choose not to use it. And the retailers are good, but limited. Do they incur a cost to adapt? Where I get gas isn't on the list. I think it's going to be a slow slog... with no idea of profitability.

Don't get me wrong... I love the idea. It's compelling to me. But I think it's a couple of years until it gets profitable, assuming there is some decent profit there for Apple.

Something north of 70 million possible users by the end of the year.

Remember, Apple Pay is US only for now, and Apple won't sell more than 25 million iPhone 6's in the US in 2015.
