<<You Apple fanboys already have an Iphone, but what of those of us who don't? No Apple watch in our future..

Seems to me that requiring and Iphone limits the sales to those with Iphones - I don't see anyone without an Iphone buying one so they can then buy the watch.>>

In the first place it is the iPhone.

I see sales of iPhones for both Apple Pay and Apple Watch. A significant number of non-iPhone users in the US had been switching to the iPhone before those two items were available.

bentway,

Don't the Android watches require a phone?

Please refrain from using terms like Fanboys when posting on this thread.

Some people find terms like these insulting and that violates the nature of the rules.

I've mentioned this fact multiple times and suggest people review the rules for complete clarity on what is and isn't acceptable behavior for posting.

Think of it as accessory for the iPhone to provided added functionality.

But it is, as always, a double-edged sword with the closed "ecosystem." The absolute fans will get on board, and some people will be turned off by it.

I did not like the closed system until I started developing for it. And while it is a PITA to go through the process of "signing" apps and getting them properly provisioned, they do have excellent infrastructure for doing it. The advantages to consumers at this point apparently still outweigh the disadvantages.

Well you are wrong about that. Plenty of people are going to switch. Mostly status conscious techies.

The number is unknown but there will be people who don't care about the money, they'll toss their androids and buy a watch and an iPhone.
