FE: Some business may be recovering in Japan; five years after their market fell by about half. The same kind of financial problems (bad loans) that devastated Japan have now hit China, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia and on and on.
I believe Japan has now indicated that they will provide "leadership" finanially in Asia. Perhaps because of circumstances these other countries will be able to regain their footing in less than 5 years BUT 1998 wont see some kind of magic pill revtalize the area.
Chinese Government will execise more authority in the economy than in recent years as a result of the economic downturn.
Too early to take a position in Japan, Korea etc.
