<Lot of energy in the water these days for some reason<

Gee.. and last year 2013 was the first year since 1994 without a major (Category 3 or higher) hurricane in the Atlantic, and the first since 1968 with no storms of at least Category 2

In fact, here were only two storms that reached Category 1 status.

2013 was actually the least active hurricane season in the Atlantic in the last 30 years.

Where was all that "energy in the water" last year?

One of the most active seasons on record occurred back in 1893, there were 12 tropical storms, 10 hurricanes and 5 major hurricanes.

On August 22, 1893 there were four active hurricanes in the Atlantic at the same time.

That was 120 years ago.
