Elroy Sorry. We may be talking past each other. It's really no big deal --- some people like and follow analyst commentary. Others don't. Analyst forecasts will ultimately try to conform to near term qtr and yr forecasts as provided by the companies. They would be completely stupid if they didn't. That is one of the few clues they get to help validate the broader substance of their models. And it is relatively incidental in the bigger scheme of things other than that rightfully a lot of attention is given to the near term beats and misses. But the models provide a wealth of info way beyond that. One of the biggest outcomes of these are that they provide the input to dcf analysis of future cashflows which is virtually never a component of company guidance and a key basis for valuation.
