You can say that about General Motors and Chrysler too. If it wasn't for Canadian and American governments bailouts they would probably be bankrupt too. Bombardier employs hundreds of Canadian across this great nation who pay taxes for services we have. We all take for granted.

Bombardier (BBD.B-T) summoned two Quebec opposition leaders to its Montreal headquarters to help clear up any confusion about its C Series aircraft program. Management invited Coalition Avenir Quebec leader Francois Legault to its head office last Friday and met with Parti Quebecois leader Pierre Karl Peladeau on Monday. The two politicians have been critical of the $1-billion (U.S.) bailout Quebec signed with Bombardier for its C Series program, arguing that taxpayers are being had.

The federal government is mulling a request for a similar-sized handout. John Paul Macdonald, head of Bombardier's public relations, characterized the meetings as part of a regular outreach program that Bombardier does on important issues.

Mr. Van Praet figures the company has become uneasy about what is being said in the wake of the Quebec handout and an order for up to 75 C Series planes from Air Canada. Bombardier also announced 7,000 layoffs, including 2,400 in Quebec, earlier this month as part of a corporate restructuring effort. Mr. Peladeau said afterward that Quebec should have invested in Bombardier and not just in the C Series.
