Decent really isn't the issue. It's the issue of what motivates us. It seems pretty clear to me that purity, and disgust (primarily at bodily functions, and issues they perceive related to them) loom large for conservatives. For liberals issues of fairness predominate. There's nothing really inherently decent or indecent about what we fixate on- but it's pretty clear the fixations are different. I've been saying, since I joined SI, that I thought right and left wing brains are probably wired differently- so I'm pleased by the research.
