Thanks for pointing out the number of unread posts; I did not notice it.

There may be the same number of Subjectmarks with the new layout, but there is less info displayed. I usually have between 20-30 subjects with new messages for my daily visit, so I only was boards with new messages displayed when I arrived.

Is there a way I can permanently use the old layout please? Why can't it be an option in each person's profile? Writing code that directs to subjectmarksold if the option is set is a piece of cake.

Are you really arguing that the display on the left side of that image is superior to the right side?

We are long time users.. but not stupid

..why are you doing this?

What is the logic, other than too much time on your hands

..this is absurd...

Dmitry, may I offer a compromise?

The dual sided layout of the new subjectmarks page is more modern, visually pleasing and arguably offers an opportunity to view more information on a page view than the old page layout. However, the right side of the page listing Subjects Without New Messages is, in fact, pretty useless. What people want to know quickly is where the new messages are, not where they aren't.

So how about keeping the new format intact and populating both sides of the page with Subjects With New Messages? This way we get twice as much useful information on a single page view.

The Subjects Without New Messages could then be listed below, similar to the old subjectmarks placement except with the new two sided layout.

Thoughts?

<<Most Members have a few Subjects that they focus on more than others;>>

Dmitry, can you provide the stats that warrant this assertion?

When an engineer starts coding and designing because they "think" users do specific actions is when that engineer usually gets it wrong. How do I know this? Many years of software development, design, support, QA, and Management.

Could you at least make it so that after you have navigated to subjectmarksold, it doesn't revert to the new version very time you click do anything?

The old Subjectmarks page had a field which indicated the number of "new" posts in a thread. Is this feature available (but cleverly hidden) in the new and improved and desired by 2% of the users Subjectmarks page?

It's not larger, it looks larger in the new setting.

I have
siliconinvestor.com

and the new layout side-by-side.

What you might mean is that the target area to click is larger than it was for low numbers of unread messages.

Here's what my SubjectMarks look like in the new layout. I don't know of any website with frequently-updated content that would display so much empty space. And, like many others, I see no value to having a list of inactive Subjects above the fold like this.

The right side is a waste of space.
What people want to know is where the new messages are, not where they aren't.
