44% of Republicans believe Barrack Obama is currently scheming to seek a Third Term as President. Something which would require a Constitutional Amendment - quite a distraction while the Obama's are busy choosing a University to host the Presidential Library for his administration's papers. A full 62% of Republicans believe Obama is simultaneously trying to take all guns away from Americans.

While denying Obama a third term as President will arguably rank as the most significant Republican achievement of the past 15 years, even greater than their achievement of permitting the sun to rise each morning, these frankly delusional beliefs illustrate the fundamental problem facing the Republican Party. It is time for politicians to stop pandering to voters who have such a tenuous grip on reality.

The Republican base has slipped from what was once the core of an alternative but responsible political party, into a collection of angry, deluded misfits whose paranoid worldviews make them a danger to themselves and to others. While it may not be polite to insult nearly half the members of one of America’s leading political parties, there is no way to sugar coat the obvious.
