Don't forget TR, he fought the plutocrats as a fierce warrior during the Gilded age. Every bit as fierce as Lincoln and FDR.

Lincoln, TR, FDR. Every 50 years the plutocrats need to be pushed back down by our democracy.

And everyone knows we need to do it again. The plutocrats have turned this country into a plutocratic oligarchy.

Up here the plutocrats have purchased 10/20 signs for every dem sign. And they are huge expensive signs and they are everywhere. Especially at all the right wing business. Which is a lot of places. That seems to be their plan and the money for pub signs seems infinite.

And they are working as we saw in the oil tax vote. People voted against their own interest by lowering oil taxes for no reason at all.

" it is sad that in the intervening 75 years we have yet to get another FDR."

Part of that is because of the effectiveness of the programs he was able to get passed albeit with reluctant GOP help..

If we had not had the Roosevelt era, safety net programs, like unemployment insurance, minimum wage laws and Social Security, I doubt that the Republicans could have reduced Obama to the placeholder president they have managed to do with their orchestrated racism.

Although in any ways, the recurring GOP curse, Roosevelt's Hoover to Obama's Bush, visited similar symptoms as a result of the greed driven, elitist policies that are hallmarks of Republican governance, the suffering was never as widespread or as public as the Hoover residue, because of what FDR managed to set in place

...as a result, the Republicans have been able to neutralize much of what Obama has tried to do in responding to the Bush depression by the simple expedient of tapping the embarrassingly large pool of latent xenophobia that exists in this country

The populist reactions to the fleecing of the country have not been as pronounced since the suffering has not been as obvious and public, thanks to Dem policies successfully championed by FDR

..give it some time though, Americans can't remember very far back, although Burn's is helping in that regard

..as Citizens United continues to help bring fascism back, by giving us even more Republican SCOTUS "leadership" and the effective repeal of Glass Steagall by way of Gramm Leach Bliley, those conditions that have brought the depressions will continue to be reinstated, and the revolution against Republican greed, that our children will eventually experience is getting closer..
