Solon does not care if anyone takes him seriously as long as he can accomplish his goal of preventing any real and rational discussion of the issues from taking place. His phony act is completely transparent but it's effective because most people would rather not be constantly barraged by vulgar personal attacks and accused of being a homosexual for nothing more than simply disagreeing with him. They just shake their heads and walk away.
