<<Also, how would this provide immunity to the whims of the consumer?>> Your almost complete misunderstanding of Apple, the way it establishes and maintains long-term relationships with the overwhelming majority of its customers, and the utility-like way in which these customers happily buy Apple products and pay to use its ecosystem (which they now view as their ecosystem) is so fundamental that it seems a waste of time to try to engage in a conversation with you about it.
