that they don't have sufficiently stringent testing to have caught this problem.
I'm sure they knew exactly how much force it would take to bend it. There are photos of just about every iPhone design (and many others) to date bending.
cultofmac.com

In Canada, at one time they introduced a new $2 coin (affectionately nicknamed the Toonie) that featured a bi-metal design - one metal ring surrounded by another.

Within days of its introduction people were saying that the centre section was falling out! Scandal! The Mint was very upset, thought they had failed in their design, and searched for answers.

Upon review it turns out, that people were getting out their metal punches, vice grips and hammers and testing the coin to see what it would take to remove the centre. As soon as this curiousity faded, so too did the reports of the center falling out.

I suspect this "failure" will fade away in a similar fashion.

I agree. It is embarrassing. I'm embarrassed for Apple in both cases; the bendy issue and the iOS 8.0 & 8.0.1 issue. I'm starting to concede that it's not the same company. I'm looking forward to the Fall product releases with a little skepticism now.

Don't get me wrong. I'm still long and will be at least into Q1 ER. After that, I don't know.

I also can't believe they aren't hearing people on the battery life issue. Does it really have to be this thin? Do they think we are all weaklings?
