Something is not right if nine people were able to get all this media attention and cause the entire stock market to take a 2% hit.

If the media wants there to be a story, it often doesn't matter how few people are actually behind it. There's currently a story that a ten-person group has been waging a years-long campaign against the advertisers for a certain media personality who I will not name so as to avoid an off-topic discussion.

… I believe Apple needs a retrofit that will fix the bend-ghazi problem for good no matter what the cost.
They could put a deformation sensor in the phone and add a Siri alarm to iOS. "STOP! You're hurting me!" or "GET off me, you ape!" or perhaps just a simple scream.

Or, they could electrically isolate the surface of the two ends of the phone and apply a taser like shock on bending.
