Right. They do take more room. But one trick is to leave the tops off the stackable containers and they only take up the room taken by the food in them if you stack them. I only have 2 in there right now and they contain at least 2 quarts each. Having them stacked that way means all you have to do is to pull a stack out and check through it - takes a couple of seconds and you are good to go - putting the rest of the stack back of course.
