Where did you get that idea? If you ask me, those with bent phones who are smarthave every incentive to call/email Apple immediatelywhile the defective phone can still be returned (14 days).

So what percentage of people in the world do you think are smart? 50%? 10%? Even at 1% smart, we are talking about less than thousand incidents. Let's not get carried away with the sky falling yet again.

and unlike most products at the launch, there are several million units already in the field. It doesnt take long to get a significant sample size for catastrophic failures in the short-term.

So will this. If I had not gone all in on September 9, when AAPL hit an intraday low of $96.14, I would have bought more today.

Got the idea from exactly what they said... that not many people contacted Apple directly yet. And yet all over social channels you see throngs of people uploading photos of the damage (not referring to "testing" vids.. I mean actual users). Apple already said they'd cover, and they might announce more (a free case, etc.), so why rush if you're just seeing the first signs of it now? Also, the warping is coming from repeated slight pressure via pockets (bending/sitting placing torque), not as much from one-off incidents, so we're likely to see much more over time.

This is very reminiscient of antenna-gate, which, if I recall, blew over pretty quickly.
Antennagate is still being mentioned and didn't exactly "blow over", but that was a much more easily corrected problem. This, if it continues to grow over time, could be extremely costly. And at the bare minimum, the ,huge negative press from it certainly isn't encouraging people to buy. I've seen that first hand in the course of business over the past two days - many people who asked "I was considering the iPhone but with all I'm hearing, what Android device would you recommend?"
