I got the 128GB gold iPhone 6, to be delivered to the Louisville store, and paid $299 as I was due an upgrade in my plan. I agree; AT&T is horrible. I've tired everyone, and though they're far from perfect, Verizon stands above. You didn't really pay $299. When you have an upgrade due, it is because you've paid another $400-$500 many months in advance, much as some people do with insurance and taxes via escrow with their mortgage. I went in that Friday and it was a madhouse but I was the only person there, at that time, who had a phone waiting for them. That line was wrapped around half the mall. Moving on the store offered me $120 for my old phone and I bought the Apple Care deal.....I always get that. Insurance is a lucrative business in all forms. Especially if you take care of your devices and believe that Apple makes quality products, you're likely paying multiple times as much as your expected return. I've run some companies where most of our profits came from selling insurance on our products. It's great for the retailer, not so good (on average) for the consumer.I have had two MacBook Pros, 2 iPods, 3 iPhones and 1 iPad and I've been an Apple stockholder for years. One Christmas a few years ago I bought iPods for all my family (that's a short list, sadly) and had them engraved. I know this is TMI. So, I guess I'm all in Apple. To me another phone is just another phone. I do take care of them because I use them so much and don't want any down time. I have over 1000 songs on tunes. Wow, you are truly immersed and have spent a ton! If phones are just phones to you, what is your hesitation in trying a non-Apple product that costs much less but has extra features/options?And.....I have been a member of this board for many years and have the T shirt to prove it. Maybe 20 years. Some of those people who interacted with me on just a few different boards, I fear are no longer with us. I'm fascinated by the longevity of the members of this board. I joined in early 1997, but many have been around longer than I. Pretty cool thing - and rare to see.I know that they had some device that when he "scanned" my phone, he said, "Great, you're backed up on the cloud". He did switch out SIM cards but it did take about three hours for all my apps to load completely......I have a lot of apps. I asked about other options because it's very easy to do on your own if you're not using an iPhone. I was surprised to hear you say that you were pleased with the experience of making a reservation, going into a store, waiting in line, and getting help. Other operating systems allow you to accomplish the same by simply ordering online, turning on the new phone, and logging in.
