"These are the times that try men's souls"::

Why not wait for the call? Don't you still get a couple days to make "room"?

Year-end bonus time at most companies driving seasonally higher 401(k) cash flow could trigger the elusive Christmas rally. Perhaps this cyberfantasy portfolio should live right on the edge and so inspire the rest of us.

It is my experience that selling the biggest loosers is a pretty shure reciepe for disappointing portfolio performance. Once you are annoyed enough about the performance of your stocks to consider selling them at a considerable loss they are often cheap enough to seriously outperform the market after you sold them. Compaq is up 250% since I sold it at a loss in 1996 and Quantum is up 200% since I sold it at its 1996 bottom and at the 1997 peak it was up 500%.

With GENZL I am currently considering averageing down another time. I originally bought GENZL for $12 1/4 and averaged down at $10 and $8 1/8. Now I only wonder if I should wait until a bottom is in place or if I should consider todays prices as cheap enough to buy even if it still can get cheaper.

MDYN at $15 1/8 was the latest addition to my biotech portfolio.
