BANGKOK (AFX-ASIA) - Thai exporters need 80 bln baht to help them through
a liquidity crisis caused by the baht's decline, Export-Import Bank of
Thailand president Pridiyathorn Devakula said.
Pridiyathorn said commercial banks need to help exporters out of their
liquidity problems, with many commercial banks "now flush with liquidity."
"The power to help local exporters doesn't rest with the Export-Import
Bank or with the Bank of Thailand," the Bangkok Post quoted Pridiyathorn as
saying.
Exporters complained that they are receiving overseas orders, but are
short on operating capital to meet production demands because local banks
have stopped lending, the report said.
