Popular Science new issue just out. It features an article about a project in Manhattan's upper west side using ATM's, Citibank and Verifone Smartcards. Says the cards are liked by the Banks because they contain personal information about the user. Biometrics not specifically mentioned or ruled out. The cards are used like B.A.T.s cards are being used in the Country of Georgia to carry money on the smartcard instead of cash.
It would be nice for an update or two on how B.A.T.s' projects are going involving their smartcards.
