I think the Nobel committee is aware of this line of research. (It is not my theory by the way, I only read about it especially as it concerned artificial neural networks which was an interest of mine before I retired). jnnp.bmj.com As is often the case, The mechanism for self awareness is shown by the way it breaks down in certain kinds of damage. Often the most promising way to figure out how something works is to see what it takes to break that feature without breaking everything.
