John- None of the browsers have the same access to the operating
system as IE has. That was one of the points Judge Sporkin was addressing
in his memorandum rejecting the original agreement. The so called
"Chinese wall" that never was. If Microsoft is to stay intact they
will have to open up their operating system so that everyone has
the same opportunity to create applications to the fullest extent
possible. Then the market place has something to decide.

Harvey

P.S. That kind of discipline produces a better operating system.

>>>DOJ isn't the market place! There are literally scores of other browsers but there are really only 2 serious contenders.<<<

Yes, but not because either one of them is that good. Myself, I can think of a lot of things I would do differently in browsers.

Also, one needn't fall prey to the bloated code, bugs, and absurd featuritis of the leading two. A lot of the defects come from just plain inexperience in software design and implementation.

Because so much of the Web underpinnings have recently stabilized, there is now an opportunity for client-side developers.
