It appears Microsoft has decided to skip Windows 9 (as a nomenclature) and use Windows 10. Editorial comments say they want to distance themselves from Windows 8 (which has been an unmitigated failure in commercial use). The presenter at the Microsoft event today only said (paraphrase) "it wouldn't be right to call it Windows 9". And said nothing more.

Microsoft can't seem to find their a$$ with both hands anymore.

Confirms my decision to move to OS X Mavericks on a MacBook Pro. I am done with Microsoft. And I doubt I am alone in that respect.
