Marshall,

Here's some Animal Kingdom information I found on Dejanews:

The following list of attractions in AK was copied from an article on Orlando
Sentnel Online. They mention a white-water rapids ride in an Asia section as
opening later; it looks like everything else listed is in the fist phase.

Hope this helps,
JoelK.

FAST FACTS

A land-by-land look at Disney's Animal Kingdom

THE OASIS

A lush garden filled with streams, waterfalls,
animals and a cool mist.

Restaurants:

-- Rainforest Cafe. An indoor jungle restaurant
and gift shop with entrances both inside and
outside the park.

CHARACTER GREETING AREA

Near the park's entrance, this area features
up-close visits with Disney characters -- many of
them from The Lion King -- and a Lion King stage
show.

SAFARI VILLAGE

Attractions:

-- The Tree of Life. The park's 14-story icon,
whose trunk is carved with the shapes of animals.

-- It's Tough to Be a Bug. The working title of a
humorous, 3-D movie to be shown inside the Tree
of Life.

-- Discovery River Boats. Sixty-two passenger
boats that offer a tour of the park and a few
surprises, such as gushing geysers, fire-breathing
dragons and a water dinosaur.

Restaurants:

-- Pizzafari. A counter-service restaurant featuring
gourmet pizzas and salads.

-- Flame Tree Barbecue. A counter-service
outdoor restaurant featuring various styles of
American barbecue.

Shops:

-- Island Mercantile. The main store in the park.

-- Disney Outfitters. Featuring clothes with
animal motifs.

-- Beastly Bazaar. An open air shop celebrating
aquatic animals.

-- Creature Comforts. Open air kids' shop
based on animal patterns -- stripes, spots and
colorful markings.

DINOLAND U.S.A.

DinoLand U.S.A. will be a slightly campy small
town overrun by archeologists, tourists and the
media when dinosaur bones are discovered there.

Attractions:

-- Countdown to Extinction. The park's
premiere thrill ride, during which visitors travel
back 65 million years to rescue the last dinosaur
from extinction.

-- The Boneyard playground. Featuring
dinosaur-bone slides, bone xylophones, a
walk-through maze set in a dinosaur dig, and fossil
excavation opportunities.

-- Cretaceous Trail. A walking trail lined with
plant and animal survivors of the dinosaur age.

-- Theater in the Wild. This 1,500-seat theater
will house a show based on the Jungle Book
movie.

Restaurants:

-- Restaurantosaurus. A counter-service
restaurant made to look like a dig site commissary,
featuring fast foods including McDonald's french
fries.

Merchandise:

-- Chester and Hester's Dinosaur Treasures.
A roadside souvenir shop hawking kitschy
dinosaur trinkets.

AFRICA

At more than 100 acres, this is the biggest section
of the park.

Attractions:
-- Kilimanjaro Safaris. The park's other thrill
ride, this 25-minute ride features a leisurely ride
through the savanna and a not-so-leisurely chase
after elephant poachers.

-- Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail. A self-guided
trail visitors stroll through after their safari.

-- Wildlife Express to Conservation Station.
Featuring a narrated look at the park's animal-care
facilities.

-- Conservation Station. The park's animal-care
center and headquarters for its conservation
efforts. Choices here include The Affection
Station, an up-close animal encounter; Animal
Cams, which visitors can use to watch animals in
their ''backstage'' enclosures; Eco Heroes, video
kiosks that teach visitors about famous biologists
and conservationists; Eco Web, a computer link to
worldwide conservation groups; Planet Watch, an
interactive video about endangered animals; and
Song of the Rainforest, an audio show that puts
visitors in the middle of a rainforest.

-- Caravan Stage. A 700-seat theater for bird
shows and other productions, located between
Africa and Asia. The Asia section, featuring a
white-water rapids thrill ride, isn't to open until late
1998 or later.

Restaurants:

-- Tusker House Restaurant. A counter-service
restaurant made to look like a gathering place for
safari guides and participants.

-- Tamu Tamu Refreshments.

Shops:

-- Mombasa Marketplace and Ziwani
Traders. Both featuring African merchandise and
safari apparel.

Actually, like Dylan said, we didn't want the Bears to win yesterday. Watching ol' Brian Cox making his first game breaking play in a Bear uniform when we needed a BIg L was one of the most disgusting moments of a very disgusting season. These are indeed a perverse group of athletes.

Dennis
