This is another reason to invest in Sony. The conversion to the new format will mean astounding sales in the professional realm of HDTV tape players/recorders and production/post-production equipment. Sony stands to make a killing as the new format is adopted. Sony already dominates this professional field.

As for the consumer realm--a new generation of VCR format will have to be invented. VHS will at last be sent to the great trash bin in the sky where it belongs. Perhaps Sony can also at last capture this consumer market as well, having learned from its experiences in the Consumer Beta market.
