[ Some Background on Myself ] I believe it was Dave Horne who suggested that we provide a little bit of background on our styles so that we can all understand from what viewpoint we were making our comments. I'm essentially an intermediate term investor who occasionally dabbles in short term trading based on chart formations, candlesticks, and short term trend following indicators. I would hence consider myself less than effective in participating in choppy issues(only candlesticks keep me a part of these issues). My intermediate term investments tend to bear the characteristics mentioned previously on this thread (the 14 fundamental characteristics I look for), though an issue I am holding now does not. I had three mentors (2 now), each with a bent on either technical or fundamental analysis, and one on both. The TA mentor is the Head Trader for a financial advisory firm in downtown Seattle, and the FA mentor, who still continues to influence me now, is a multi-millionaire who began his/her (I won't specify) trading career with $10,000 borrowed cash and pyramided it to over $750,000. S/he likes to acquire plays that are in huge bases, and expands sharply upon its breakout and continued growth. S/he's a value-oriented, long term position-swing trader/investor and plays issues that are (not surprisingly) undervalued and have locked in a future stream of recurring revenues. And lastly, the greatest mentor of them all is the Market. I am always seeking to learn more from it. So from these influences I think I've been able to put together a balanced approach to the markets. While I realize that fundamentals are important, an analysis for a particular issue would be incomplete without taking into consideration its technical aspects. Since I have an intermediate term trading horizon, I look to the weekly charts for analysis on longer term issues to hold (using a trend following approach), and refine my profits by trading the daily charts and using the short term indicators. I think that does it for now. If anybody else has any questions, please ask away. Regards, Rainier
