Far k the Kocksuckers WTF is wrong with our country to allow tax inversions? Third world as it takes 7 years to fix a 4 lane bridge in Ma. Route 109 bridge over rt 128 Dedham Ma Posted Aug. 8, 2013 @ 12:01 am Updated Aug 8, 2013 at 8:15 AM WESTWOODA Massachusetts Department of Transportation project to renovate a number of bridges in Dedham and Needham is expected to be completed by May 2015. (lol completion now slated for 2017)One of the bridges is located on Route 109 in Dedham, just over the Westwood town line, and has ramps onto and off of Route 128. The contractor in this project is McCourt Construction, and the cost for the project is approximately $88 million. The project began in the spring of 2010, and it includes the Route 109 bridge along with the Route 128 bridges over Route 135 and the Charles River in Dedham, and the Great Plain Avenue bridge over Route 128 in Needham. The work being done on Route 109 includes the installation of new utility poles this month, new steel girders, and relocating utility lines by NStar. All lanes are expected to be open to traffic by the end of 2014.Dedham Town Administrator William Keegan said he hasn’t received phone calls inquiring about the status of the construction, but that "the work is taking a lot longer than anyone anticipated.""We would like to see it completed as soon as possible," he added.Westwood Town Administrator Michael Jaillet said he has received several calls regarding the construction, and has even heard of motorists traversing the Jersey barriers going the wrong direction."It’s especially difficult to navigate at night with all the barriers, and the traffic can get really bad too," said Matt Dresens of Medfield. From Aug. 1, 2012 to Aug. 1, 2013, Dedham Police have responded to 13 motor vehicle accidents from 1000 High St. to the Westwood line.Westwood Police have responded to eight motor vehicle accidents at the High Street Route 95 cloverleaf from July 29, 2012, to July 29, 2013, as well as one accident at nearby Grove Street."The reason the project is taking so long is that both 128 (Route 95) and Route 109 have to remain open to traffic during construction, so essentially they have to build new bridges first and then remove the old bridges," said Medfield Town Administrator Michael Sullivan. "The engineering challenges are many—raising the elevation, increasing the span of the bridges, and undoubtedly, the biggest challenge of all is doing all of this while keeping both roads open."Keegan said there were some redesign issues that have been addressed but slowed down the process."My understanding is that they will be out this week starting to dig the holes for new utility poles," Keegan said on Monday, Aug. 5.
