I don't think selling puts would be allowed.> Depends... different brokers, different rules... and probably also depends on other factors like total assets with a specific IRA/brokerage acct., plus other accts. with same outfit, etc. I never used to be able to do options in my IRA until I called, found out what, if any, requirements there were, etc.... however, I never do options in either of my IRAs, by choice -- only trade them in my taxable acct.

I mostly sell puts in my IRA. Since they are always short-term CG, I prefer to do it ther erather than taxable accounts. You must have cash to cover the exercise if assigned, since you can't do margin in an IRA.
