I wouldn't claim that there is zero obstruction coming from the House.

However, Reid is standing in the way of any substantive legislation at all, even if most Senate Democrats agree with it. Even the NYT has been critical of it.

But it IS Obama's responsibility to show leadership and get things done. That's what presidents are supposed to do and Obama has just refused to get involved. The claim is that he doesn't "like" to do that kind of stuff; if that is true, he should have known before running that that would be his job as president.

It is one area where I think LBJ was excellent; he knew how to get people, even those who disagreed with him vehemently, on board with whatever he was trying to do. In fact, he may have been TOO good at it, so good he managed to get some great legislation passed and other things that weren't so great...
