any scientific evidence to back up your claims.

The fossil record is the primary evidence for evolution.

Consciousness doesn't fossilize, so the primary way to explore it is by trying to figure out why different people have different levels of consciousness. Studies try to find out when babies gain various facilities, whether all babies develop in similar ways, and what part of their brain is changing when they gain or lose a characteristic. The other study is to notice adults with different levels of consciousness, especially if they can identify when the level changes, usually through accident or combat.

Creating artificial consciousness is a different way to study the problem. People have been studying babies one way or another for all of history. The artificial neural networks are more a product of the 1980's and later so it is no surprise that the field has not yet peaked. The field is mostly funded by voice-to-text applications and face or license plate video recognition tasks.
