The shale mining revolution is entirely dependent upon Nucleation as the source and origin of oil.

2 outtakes, A second thing that has held back exploration for oil in shale is that many believed that the oil molecule, at 0.5+ nanometers, was too large to flow through small matrix “pore throat” or spaces between the rock particles typical in many shale formations.
Nucleation occurs for different reasons. Important among them, is the supersaturation of a vapor. When a hot vapor in a gas is cooled down, its supersaturation ratio increases, and it becomes supersaturated. Therefore, it "precipitates out" into particles. This process is called nucleation.

We have witnessed two Nucleation events on Jupiter in our lifetimes. The first event was the so called comet Shoemaker Levy...post that assault, an earths diameter (approx 7,926 miles )of visible hydrocarbons was spread across Jupiter.

That oil at the surface remained visible to technical apparatus, for approximately 8 months, before disappearing into the impact fractured strata.
