Obviously, this is another of myriad impossible events listed in these tribal tales. No rational person debates the inerrancy claim in the bible. Not a single thing in the bible comports with the claim of either inerrancy or Divinity. But of course you knew that! :-)

And of course, they carried all this wood and water and food and back scratchers out of Egypt! Plan and plan and plan! Apparently, using the latrine involved a 3 mile walk out of a camp nearly the size of Rhode Island! And this was NOT DISCRETIONARY! It was LAW! Yahweh gave them specific instructions how to bury their poop! Did He give these instructions to all His other children scattered all over the world! NO! Why not. Because he hated them. They worshipped other gods and so did the Israelites. But when you're a simpleton creator who has done NOTHING but fail--you gotta take a chance on somebody and get really MEAN!! It is ALL so childish! What is the matter with our brothers and sisters!? It is sooooooo sad.
