Gene---on a serious note and slightly off topic, I have a couple of questions about shorting. It's my understanding, as you commented, that you can't short a stock unless the price is at a certain level. There is, however, some shady entities in the BB market that is willing to short illegally. Is there any way to find out if there is any short positions on this stock? Hraka knows what I am talking about----he and I both spent some time on another thread (OVIS). Also I understand that the shares that you own cannot be loaned for short positions if you work from a cash account. Is that true?

Gene,
You wrote, "2). although the financials did not come out today, Baker told me they would be out this month. They did file an NT 10k [request for extension to file 10k] on Sept. 30, 1997, and those extensions are normally granted for a 90 day period [which would mean the end of this month]."
Is this a sort of unstated custom with the SEC? (I am not being a smart aleck.) I ask because the form said 15 calendar days, and I wondered how keen on lateness the govt would be. It thought that they would be sticklers, but if they were, it also seems that UMSI would be a lot more worried about getting the forms out than they appear to be. If what you wrote is true, that would cause me to relax a little bit.
I still wish the company would stop telling us specific dates then failing to come through. "Sometime toward the end of the month" is much better (if in fact it happens).

Enjoy your day, and thanks for your posts (this goes for everybody).

Jonathan

To Gene and all
What would happen if we all took control of our shs. How many would be needed to be pulled out befor the shorters got shorted?
Do we have enough on this thread to do that?
Regards
Rod Simonian
