"You're going to believe what you have already decided to believe anyway."

Not at all. People can be expected to defend their beliefs, but not irrationally. Perhaps you underestimate the readers on this thread. Everyone's free to express an opinion. It's equivalent to an unsupported argument. It's the same thing as going to court and saying "My client's innocent."

That's a start. But when the time comes to present evidence, you better have more. You can't just repeat "My client's innocent," or you'll lose. You must back your assertion with facts and logic.

If you're just stating an opinion, fine. Everyone has an opinion. And a vote. No justification needed. Vote for The Man in the Moon, believe fervently that God will send you cash. No one can disagree. Reason doesn't matter.

However, when someone makes a statement that purports to be fact -- not opinion -- the rules change. Is it a fact? Prove it. Produce the evidence.

"
There are TONS of factual problems with the book."

Fine! Thanks for the opinion.
