You just have to wonder if the right wing wants total chaos. Do they WANT diseases to break out in the US? My own take is that it's the standard flaw of most deeply ideological political points of view, in which purity of view takes absolute precedence over looking at the actual likely consequences. The answer to your question lay in the text of the bit I posted. They want to cut government expenses, cut the role of government in daily life, without realizing they cut the health infrastructure. And the money for future health emergencies is the easiest to cut. In my little NJ hamlet, a don't-raise-property-taxes-under-any-condition group gained control of boro finances and immediately used the reserves to fund daily operation. They argued that's why you had reserves. Well, of course, next winter snows were much more than usual. Lack of reserves proved a problem. Lack of thought.
