Here's a Christmas puzzle:

We all know that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Suppose we threw a Christmas party this year for him and he actually showed up. How may candles would we have to put on his cake (not counting any for good luck (gg)?

Tech -

On the contrary, it shows the difference between companies that must have code converted manually and one that does not. In CSGI's process NOT ONE SINGLE LINE OF CODE IS CONVERTED MANUALLY PTUS, SEEC, and VIAS can't say that.

Again (hopefully for the last time)... you're putting far too much credance on claims of "fully automated".

If I can remember correctly CSGI goes thru multiple iterations tuning their algorithms BEFORE finally pushing the DOIT button. What's the difference between multiple tuning iterations at the beginning or at the end of the process? Believe me, not much.

An intelligent human still has to be in the loop to make sure the machine doesn't screw up.

Remember, these machines (conversion engines) contain no intelligence at all.

Think back to when you first applied a 'apply global change' to a large document... were you satisfied with the results? I seriously doubt it. Now recognize that the text in programs is not intended for human consumption. Programs, JCL, record layout, etc. are intended for machine consumption... makes for bizarre reading.

Has CSGI given any indication of how many 10s of millions of lines of code they've run thru the tool? Running the same 100,000 LoC thru the process proves only that you can automate the conversion of that 100,000 LoC... not the next 100,000 LoC which is most likely to have a substantively different style.
