jews/Christians & Muslims all inherit their 'eternal life' themes from the Egyptians

I'm not so sure of that. There is a suggestion in some old writings that the reason that the Jewish people were not getting along in Egypt was that they didn't accept the afterlife as envisioned by the Egyptians along with the mummification that went with it. At this time the Jews also believed there were many gods, it's just that they had a special deal with one of them. That's why the golden calf incident was so important.

The real change in Jewish theology came about when the leadership was in Babylon. There they were heavily influenced by Zoroastrianism which was the new and exciting idea of the day. The Jewish people at Babylon were encouraged to return to Jerusalem, rebuild the temple (replacing the priests), and preached a theology closer to that of the east, including a one god only theme and more rituals concerning an afterlife.
