Probably a factor ... - As a Ph.D. astronomer, I can definitively answer that on the equator a day is twelve hours long all throughout the year. [To be technically correct, there is some minor variation due to the change in the Earth's orbital speed about the Sun during the year. Not an important consideration here.] jg
