The Hellenes didn't wipe out the non-existent Jews....I'm afraid your twisted-tactics won't work, for what ever reasons that would be very interesting to know, Alexander spares Jerusalem. Yes, the Hellenes were very merciful in such a way that no man or god can be merciful, they spared their lives. The Jews owe their existence to them.

The Hellenes didn't wipe out the non-existent Jews .....Again your twisted tactics fail again. What we do know is a very strict, select religious & ethnic cleansing is instituted by the new line of 'national-socialists' of Jerusalem, post Babylonian exile.. So your dodge fails, this is 300BC not 1300BC fantasy island time frame and these 'priests' had almost 200yrs to ethnically cleanse the 'community' of all foreign influences in their midst.

How ironic those fundamentalist Hebrews operate much along religious lines much as the Nazi SS did in Germany, they started ejecting all foreign wives & their children into the jaws of the desert. Truth is looking back what pure torture for the strict observant Jews to have the cosmopolitan & tolerant Hellenes come into their midst who freely allowed mix marriages & rule over them?

Ezra (480–440 BC),
en.wikipedia.org

The Book of Ezra describes how he led a group of Judean exiles living in Babylon to their home city of Jerusalem (Ezra 8.2-14) where he is said to have enforced observance of the Torah and to have cleansed the community of mixed marriages
