Only 4 Ebola hospitals: Bethesda, MD; Atlanta, GA; Missoula, MT; Omaha, NB

The United States has just four Ebola-equipped hospitals. One of those is in Bethesda, Maryland, and Nina Pham is being transferred to there from Texas Presbyterian today.

You can try to blame the hospital, but perhaps the instructions from the CDC office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response were lacking

Perhaps they were first sent instructions in July and the hospital effectively blew it off. The blame for sending Duncan home and for failure to use protcol to protect nurses for several days lies squarely with the hospital, and, more specifically, the Medical director of the ER, the head of Infection Control, and prolly the Medical director of the ICU. Took them like 3 days to think about wearing protective booties on their shoes.

Under questioning from Rep.

Diana DeGette

(D., Colo.), Mr. Varga said that Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas received the CDC’s first Ebola health advisory on July 28 and that the information was shared with emergency-room directors and posted in the emergency room. But pressed on whether the hospital provided person-to-person Ebola training for emergency personnel, he replied “no.”
