Mohan and ALL, Thanks for the worthy response to my "rantings".

I am concerned that the comparison with Packard Bell is indicative
of the myopic view that investors have of the Compaq companies.

If what I read is correct -- RE "Compaq Ups the Networking Ante"
techweb.com

Compaq is preparing to compete in the big leagues, perhaps even
Lucent, Nortel, and Ericsson.

The company's future lies in their ability to do this, as well
as their ability to build upon their Tandem Company's products,
and its service organization.

IMHO - It would do well for serious investors to review what the
new Compaq company will be all about.

Mhan, I think cpq has moved allot of low end directives overseas...
not the USA.
they will take the sells and get 100,000's of them, but, cpq isn't hurt but having only 30-40% of the market share at that end.
jan98 will still show cpq no.1 one across the board and climbing
